This week was all about editing. We used Premiere Pro to put all of our animated scenes together. I imported the sounds I had collected (Eva) and the sound track (Time - Hanz Zimmer) and put them all together to make the final completed animation.

Communication is the key....
During the course of this module, We only could only really meet as a whole group one a week, so to keep in contact we had a FaceBook group for online meetings and queries and to share our progress and resources.

This week we carried on with the animation. We came together to see what we had individually done, Dimitar edited the harbour and sent to Pete which he put inside the environment, along with all of our models. We how have a complete environment (screen shots to come). Joel is working with the scenes involving the control room and the american captain seeing the planes and the bomb dropping. Dimitar is also working on the explosions and the bomb shot which will be done next week. I have been working on some of the aircraft flying scenes (test run below)
I have also been working on the production work, collecting sound FX and the soundtrack, also began using Premier Pro this week to start peicing the animation together.
Here are a few of the final models / environments / elements:

This week Joel and I worked on the scene that the planes take off from the aircraft carrier, also the scene that FDR picks up the document and where the document is faxed through, I worked on aircraft scenes with different angles, Pete is comletin the island so we can finalise scenes involving that. Dimitar is working on the harbour scenes.
This will continue to progress through the next couple of weeks, so we can inport rendered scenes into Premiere Pro to edit.

Animation - Week 9
We really cracked on with animation this week as we only have 3 weeks left of semester, and all of our models are now complete.
The second scene we worked on was the Japanese planes taking off from their aircraft carrier. We have The Japanese Commander's hands, looking at his watch (to set the time) and saluting the planes off. We had to animate the plane's propellars spining to make the scene more realistic. This was done using the rotate tool and the curve editor, we also added motion blur to the propellars to make them look that little bit better.
Dimitar is working on the Harbour scene that I built in Max. I made a box and imported my water to make a very basic harbour. I then imported various files from each member of the group, Joel's battleship and small building, Dimitars hangar and jeep and my crates and lamp posts. After playing with the layout I saved it and passed it To dimitar where he is adding finishing touches and animating the scene to encorporate the storyboard.

This week we began animating the scenes. The first one we worked on was the last scene. We used my room file, within which is the desk and documen. We then imported Joel's hands, telephone and typewriter to create the scene.
We used a free camera in the scene and used a target light in order to create shadows. Joel animated the hands so it was as if the character was looking at his hands, with blood on them.

This week, we wanted to ensure that the majority of the modelling had been done, working with the asset list, we identified that:
Aircraft - COMPLETE
Battleships - COMPLETE
FDR's room - COMPLETE
Document - COMPLETE
Telephone - COMPLETE
Jeep - COMPLETE
Bombs - COMPLETE
Environmental Props (Crates/Lamp posts) - COMPLETE
Hands - COMPLETE
Desk - COMPLETE
Contol Room/Controls - ALMOST COMPLETE
Environment - ALMOST COMPLETE
Buildings - ALMOST COMPLETE
From this we decided that the final three items in this list will need to be finished THIS WEEK, in order to begin animating as time is now creeping up on us. We will begin this in next weeks class.

In our 6th group meeting, we identifie what has been done, and what needs doing. Joel has finished the battleship and telephone and hands and is experimenting with how to make them move realistically, Dimitar has almost completed his jeep and bomber and is working on an ambulance, I (Eva) have completed the B5N aircraft and some props such as crates, I am working on more props: lamp posts, desks, document.
We have agreed that we will begin animating some scenes next week, those of which don't need the exterior environment as this in still incomplete, Pete will update us on the progress next week as he was not able to attend this week.

This week we were given no tutorials to do so we continues our individual work. As the weeks are moving on, we decided that we need to start putting time limits on when things will need to be finished in order to give enough time to render at the end of semester, this will be done next week.
We all gave a brief summary on how we're doing and how far we are from finishing our models.
Tasks
Joel: finish hands
Eva: Add materials to plane
Pete: continue environment
Dimitar: continue models

Today week was our group progress report presentation. We, as a group, presented our initial report on our plans and hopes for the project. We each presented our skills and expertise, which aspect of the project we would be doing and showed our storyboard, asset list and various other documents and research that we had done so far.

Group meeting - Week 3

The focus of todays meeting was to organise the presentation for next week (week four). The objective of the presentation is to give a progress report on how the project is coming along; what we have researched, what (and how) we are going to model and how we are going to animate.
We also need to mention our individual tasks and skills, listing and explainig what we ourselves are modelling and inputting into the project.
However, the main aspect of the presentation is to explain how we will be delivering the brief, explaining what approach we are taking; which, in our case; is explaining how we are going to incorporate the factual elements and the conspiricies into the animation, making it as factual and educational as possible.
Before the meeting today I (Eva) had began making the template for the presentation and began putting some slides together in order to give ourselves a head start when we got to the meeting.
Each of the group members added something to the presentation about what they will be doing, so that we will be aware of what we need to talk about on the day, we plan on meeting again before the class (Wednesday) so we can further prepare for the presentation.
Individual tasks
Pete: Continue creating environment
Joel: Continue modelling
Dimitar: continue working on other vehicles
Eva: Complete aircraft model

Today we had our second group meeting. We brought ourselves up to date with what we have been doing through the past week.
We also worked on our storyboard for the animation and made an asset list for the animation, these tasks took up the majority of the time of the meeting.
As a group, we mind mapped our individual ideas for the animation and moulded these ideas into a feasible plan of action to try and encorporate both sides of the story (conspiracy and not) into a workable scenario. Joel did the sketching as he is most skilled in this area. This task took so long as we wanted to come up with the most creative and achievable project plan.
We made an asset list of the elements that need to be modelled for the animation. This is so we didnt make anything that wasn't going to be seen in the animation as to not waste any time that could be spent on more valuable modelling elements.

Individual tasks
Pete: Continue researching and working on environment
Joel: Begin work on battleships and continue research into servicemen's uniforms
Dimitar: Continue research into interior of battleships and what would have been in the harbour at the time (props)
Eva: Continue working on aircraft, continuation of research into the conspiricies of that day and make a start on the presentation to get ready for the progress report in week 4.

The first meeting was about establishing general ideas about the project, researching Pearl Harbor, the truths and conspiricies.
I (Eva) was selected to keep the weekly minutes, we also discussed who would like to undertake the different aspects of modelling.
We; as a group; discussed the different aspects and angles that we could take while creating the models and animation, we decided that part of the production will be in first person format. We also discussed and looked into the specifics of the warfare at the time; what the battleships looked like, models of the Japanese aircraft fleet, and looked into Pearl Harbor itself.
We each identified our individual strengths and thought about our prior experince with project work and using 3Ds MAX so that we could apply these to individual tasks in order to get the most out of each member of the group.
Individual Tasks to undertake
Joel: Research and develop US Naval battleship backgrounds and shape, and also the attire of the naval captains
Eva: Research and develop Japanese aircraft fleets, different models, kamakazi planes and patternings
Pete: Research and develop the environmental aspect, The Harbour itself along with the ocean, buildings and the general landscape
Dimitar: Research and develop Battleship's interior specifically the bridge and control room. He is also looking into other vehicles that would be present on a USS naval base.
The group will meet again next week bringing their individual work so we can begin storyboarding.
